men's winter vests outerwear:GB SKI TEAM MEET THE ATHLETES SCOTT WAITT & TOBY CASE
We got in touch with Two more members of the GB youth ski team to discuss their exciting year ahead and a little about the sport. This time it was the turn of Scott Waitt & Toby Case to answer a few questions, telling us how they got started and what they love about Skiing.
How long have you been skiing for and how did you get started?
Scott: I started skiing aged 3 doing half days in Courchevel on the magic carpet followed by sledging during a week’s holiday. I then skied in Scotland starting off at the Lecht as the café was always nearby and served hot chocolates.
Toby: I learn’t to Ski at Aldershot Dry Slope when I was 5, progressing through the groups & then having a trial for the race team at the age of 7.
What do you love about skiing?
Scott: I like the adrenaline rush of skiing fast and being in the mountains.
Toby: Everything!

How does it feel to be representing your country on an International level and where will you compete this year?
Scott:It feels great to be representing GB internationally and to have met a personal goal. I will be competing at Andorra and I am looking forward to all 4 disciplines. I look forward to being part of a team and to meeting other competitors from all over the World. I am also hopefully going to Abetone, Italy in April.
Toby: Brilliant it was already a goal of mine from when I was about 11 to ski for GBR, I have just returned from Andorra with the Children’s team where we achieved 3rd place out of 30 Nations, apparently the first time a GBR team has had such success. Just before I left for Andorra I was lucky enough to be told i was selected to go to Topolino in March, a race where so many racers from the current World Cup started out!
In what ways would you say you’ve benefited from skiing?
Toby: It has given me self confidence & belief in what I can do.
What are your future goals and do you see yourself moving further with skiing?
Scott: My other goals for this year are to improve my skiing and to hopefully get good results in my last year of children’s. Next year I hope to compete in FIS and to work on getting good points. Long term I hope to get further with my skiing.

What advice would you give to young skiers looking to get started?
Scott: My advice to young skiers is to enjoy the sport but only take up ski racing if you really like it. Also to keep doing other sports as they are fun and help with your fitness.
Toby: I am still a young skier, so that is a hard one, I guess try your hardest whenever you are on the slope, training races are the same as the real thing so don’t hold back!!
As the season goes on, we’ve been getting lots of exciting updates on how the team is doing. You can take a look for yourself at the BSS website and keep an eye out for updates on the Trespass blog and across our social media.
